Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome back to this new month of Gazette issue!
In this month of May, we will be introducing one of the most popular gaming
shops in Singapore. We are honoured to have Mr. Ng, the owner of the shop –
Internet Recreation Centre (I.R.C.), in dedicating some of his precious time
for this FAQ session with us. Before we start, I would like to wish everyone
a very relaxing Labour Day. Hurray!
Here we begin…
Contemporary Internet Gaming Centre
-----------------------------------------------------
I.R.C. is a state-of-the-art internet gaming
centre located at Parklane Shopping Mall.
The only gaming centre in the vicinity to equip
its machines with premium specifications, I.R.C offers 19’ monitors, GeForce
FX Ultra graphics card, optical mice, 512MB dual channel DDR RAM, 1.5Mbps internet
connection and piped-in music for patrons to enjoy.
Why is it called I.R.C.?
Mr. Ng, the owner of I.R.C. replies with a smile,
"That's because my friends who helped to set up this shop and I met through
a Galaxynet IRC channel. From there, we have grown into a close friendship braving
through good and bad times together. So we actually thought of the acronym "IRC"
before coming out with the lengthened 'Internet Recreation Centre' name."
I.R.C. offers a wide variety of original games
in every genre, which our friendly and enthusiastic team of staff keep updated
and dynamic. Among them is the evergreen Counter-Strike, popular Blizzard titles
like Diablo2 and Warcraft 3, as well as online games like Ragnarok and MU Online.
I.R.C. is also one of the first gaming centres to introduce Unreal Tournament
2004 and Battlefield: Vietnam to the masses.
Specially targeted at young adults and serious
gamers, I.R.C. is designed with the ergonomics and comfort of the user in mind;
not only does each player have sufficient space to move about, the lighting
is also kept dim to provide an intimate and conducive atmosphere for gaming.
With 41 computers in all, two islands have a
five-by-five layout which is suitable for Counter-Strike clan matches, while
another island has a four-by-four layout which is especially suitable for WarCraft
3 and other Real Time Strategy games and matches.
“This is THE gaming palace built by gamers
for gamers. The management aim to make I.R.C. a delightful place for gaming
and hope all professional gamers make I.R.C. their gaming base for training
and holding matches,” says Mr Vincent Foo, IT Manager of I.R.C.
Working Hours?
